Steedsman, an expanding Shropshire based saddle maker, is the first saddlery company in the UK to invest in cutting edge computerised leather cutting technology. As the company goes from strength to strength, significant investment in the Computerised Numerical Cutting (CNC) machine has been essential to keep up with demand for the luxury handmade jumping and dressage saddles manufactured at extended premises in Telford.
Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern processes allow for unrivalled, progressive techniques to be used in the manufacture of the luxury Steedsman Saddle. Precision, accuracy and attention to detail are what make these saddles unique. Employing a new work horse for the cutting process saves time which can be spent hand stitching and handcrafting each individual saddle.
Colin Sargent, Steedsman Managing Director, said: “The leather industry in the Midlands went through some challenging times but I did not want to see the decline of my trade. Streamlining the techniques at processes at our new extended premises in Telford is a dream come true.
“Steedsman is expanding rapidly and the investment I have made allows for the production of very high quality, luxury saddles at competitive prices. We have the ability to produce bespoke saddles to order and keep the saddlery craftsmanship alive for generations as I need apprentices to help keep up with the burgeoning demand.”
